Less is more.

 Less is more.

I just can’t see how we’re going to turn back the tide, I really can’t. Even where woke/conscious people gather at music festivals the shit we leave behind for others to clean up is enormous.

I-phones need Cobalt, women and children are mining that shit in primitive conditions poisoning themselves and their surrounding areas, we don’t see that so we don’t give a f*** about it. We buy, we use we throw away, without thinking what effect that has on us and our planet, we are conditioned to consume consume consume.

Order, use, throw away, order, use, throw away ad infinitum. And one day the whole system will collapse, when it does collapse we’ll be there to take pictures of it to put on our socials. But we can’t say we weren’t warned of the coming apocalypse.

Extreme temperatures, storms, floods and forest fires all over the world and we carry on like nothing is happening. We are all Nero now, playing around while the world around us burns, floods and fails.

It’s normal that people feel helpless and cannot seem to respond, we’ve been put in artificial coma, but when it all breaks down, remember - shiny toothed, artificial influencers can’t save us, dictators and asshole war mongers can’t help us, only we can help ourselves.

Buy less, live more, get off line and on turn on life, turn off the screens turn on your line of vision. Something has to change but what?

We are consumers and we’re consuming the planet, we’re like locusts, a plague of locusts eating our way through the planet. We love Nature but spray chemicals to kill all the insects that make nature so beautiful. We say we love animals but slaughter them in their billions to make some unhealthy fast food.

That’s how I think and feel, and yet I am confused as how to respond. Hell I’m even using social media and such to write this.

I try with small acts, I try to live sober, try to teach myself to consume less.

I try not to buy too many clothes and stuff I don’t need. All we can do is our best to get consumption in all things down. We are like children in a candy store, we try to have everything and it’s making us and the planet sick, if we die, life goes on, if the planet dies all life ceases to exist.

Save the Amazon? Get off Amazon.

Do it with less.

As Gill Scott Heron wrote- ‘The Revolution will not be televised’. The revolution will actually be the struggle for ‘less’, less landfills full of hardly worn clothes, less consumption, less worship of celebrity culture, less endless dopamine hits of ‘retail therapy’.

Like all addictions it will take time to kick the habit, start small, take baby steps, less screen time maybe.

Reading this might have been a waste of time, but think about it, when reading this you weren’t ordering something on line! Take it as a win for the planet. (Smiley)
